How to play

Every day at midnight, your local time, Where Was It? picks five pop culture places. Everyone gets the same five.

1. 01

   Read the clue

   It never names the place. You recognise it from the story: a film set, a band's hometown, the real town behind a novel.

2. 02

   Drop a pin

   Spin and zoom the globe, tap where you think it is, then lock in. The map has no place names on purpose.

3. 03

   Score

   Up to 5,000 points a round depending on distance, 25,000 a day. Within 25 km you get the full 5,000.

4. 04

   Share and keep your streak

   Your result is an emoji grid with no spoilers. Play each day to keep your streak going.

Scoring

Points fall off smoothly with distance: 5,000 × e^{−d / 1,500 km}.
